641093 2008-02-23 02:09:00 For a BLU-RAY PLAYER, a PS3 is not worth getting. That's like buying a car just for it's body. You're still paying for the engine and all that, but you never intended to use it. --Wolf-- (128)

Life is full of compromises. If it suits your needs and the price is affordable, then what's the problem?

Look at my case in question in post #67. I get tons of use from my PS3 without ever playing games. I forgot to mention that I can stream to it wirelessly from 2 computers in the house. When BD DVD's are available in Video Ezy up the road, I will have another use for the PS3.

A darn sight cheaper and far more functional than a stand alone Blu-ray player. It may not suit you but that doesn't mean it doesn't suit others

I bought a PS3 at Christmas. Never played a game in my life. Probably never will.

I fitted a 120GB HDD to it and I have since put on it: around 2500 music tracks, 4000 scanned photos and the main thing I bought it for, about 5 hours of full 1080i res video. Got the old 40GB to encase as a backup drive.

Great machine. Top quality stuff. Cheap as chips for what I want.

Now, how many others have done what I have done.

considering the previous xbox vs ps3 vs wii threads, i'm more inclined to believe what ken has to say

oh i might add that scientists are big fans of PS2, PS3 and the wii

they are open platforms - the wiimote is the cheapest accelerometer you can buy and the processors in both playstaions have both rivalled modern supercomputers, eliminating the often long and expensive wait to hire one

so buying a ps3 and not playing games is by no means buying a car for it's body, especially if you're just there to rip out the engine;)

641096 2008-02-23 02:47:00 Why? Gonna back that statement up or what?

If you read all the reviews, the ps3 wins handsdown.
It is also one of the cheapest.

That's not my take on your comment Cicero - as it was you originally made the uniformed statement about PS3s not playing Bluray to plod who correctly stated that PS3s play Blu ray disks very well which is why he has one.

Even Metla corrected you.

Quite right Vitabrit.
The point I just made was that I don't make mistakes.
