640751 2008-02-16 23:27:00 I pretend to be an opera singer for the university terms. When that doesn't work out then I do an impression of the living dead in a data entry job. Studying classical performance singing, doing honours this year. Thebananamonkey (7741)
640752 2008-02-17 03:09:00 Thomas01. That's really something having worked on the TSR2! I remember that this plane was probably well ahead of it's time, expected to be a real world-beater, then the whole programme was canned by the UK Government without much explanation. It must have been a fascinating project espsially as things would have been done in what we would now consider 'old-fashioned' ways.

PS. I am a retired manager, worked for Firestone and later Bridgestone when they took us over.

That's intriguing.

Are you a tenor, baritone, bass, soprano, alto, contralto etc...?
(Need to know so that we can guess who you are when you become world-famous)

640755 2008-02-17 06:56:00 More than 30 years ago my professor at university (in the US) gave me a project to compare the tide at Honolulu with the tide at Anchorage, Alaska. At the time I thought ho hum, how boring. But, it started a lifetime interest in tides. Now, I make a living from it, working as a consultant from home. I could retire, but hey, why retire while people pay me good money to pursue my hobby? TideMan (4279)

Some people have all the luck. :(

My absolute interest is paleontology and conservation. And there's no money out of conservation. Paleontology, maybe, if I find some rare fossil. Chances are I will become a fossil myself before I can find another. :(

640757 2008-02-17 21:04:00 I'm a baritone. I wouldn't hold my breath about fame. Success hopefully, but I'm not the next Pavarotti. It is nice getting money for what you love. But at the end of the day it's a job, like anything else. Just more interesting sometimes. Thebananamonkey (7741)
640758 2008-02-17 21:26:00 Former Analyst. I'm looking. Gone via a restructure. As they are an EEO they had to readvertise the job and no way was I applying. Many of others have left as well by their own and one was a referee of mine.

Applying is hard. Its not fun, the advertisement is like wanting a super person from their tone and most jobs are boring.

640759 2008-02-17 21:37:00 Hmmmm lets see ...... I am a single mum which takes up quite a bit of time ...... I clean, cook, garden and all that boring stuff..... I work full time as a self employed child carer and have worked with my current family (3 children under 3) for about 3 years. Will start studying for a 3 year diploma, full time, next semester whilst staying in my current full time job..... (wow thats a lot of 3s) Socially :p ..... I play indoor netball and coach outdoor netball which is a job in itself and funnily enough help people fix small and insufferable computer problems for no small or larger fee than a hot coffee. Ridiculously tired and stretched beyond imagining :groan: Oh and just started playing Xbox 360 on line which is a bad bad bad thing. :stare: never-u-mind (6500)
