640732 2008-02-16 03:10:00 Ah, the local dairy. No, there are a lot more than 300 of them...

Plus they don't have very much in the way of IT systems...

You can pay your bill, re-license your motor vehicle, get RUC licenses, send things overseas, within NZ, the list goes on.

You MUST be able to get it now :p

Oh, am also getting trained to support the employees of one of NZ main gas/power companies IT systems. (who has an arena name after it)

Technical support analyst (diagnosing faults with hardware, and fixing them. Helping to correct any mistakes with the software the users have made. All over the phone.)

640736 2008-02-16 06:55:00 I retired from being a Chartered Accountant a couple of years back - I have been self-employed since 1996 offering accounting and business consulting services. Talk about boring. Along the way I sold computer rentals for a year, and started a computer cleaning business and a printer repair business. Now I'm now an Access and Excel expert, with some good contracts and I'm loving it! :) The goal is to work 3 days a week and play games (PC and ancient wargames) the rest of the time. andrew93 (249)

Just cleaning computers? People paid you to clean them? Did it work out ok?

640739 2008-02-16 10:46:00 Just cleaning computers?
All office equipment but mostly computers - printers, faxes, telephones, server rooms etc. 100% businesses, no home users.

People paid you to clean them?
Absolutely. Server rooms was the easiest sell. Some jobs would have 6-700 PC's or more.

Did it work out ok?
Yes. It is a good business model. I got out of a few years ago - other family members have taken over the computer cleaning side.
