So, I got Paranoid, Blask Sabbath and Masters of Reality, and a 2cd greatest hits .

Also (re) purchased Iron Maiden and Killers, by Iron Maiden, and Cowboys from Hell by Pantera.

639856 2008-02-28 18:31:00 For the life of me I can't get myself to listen to heavy metal or any metal-like music, but as Metla say, he doesn't like classical music, so it's all in the taste. I also detest rap. BUT I have a son who is crazy about rock and starting to lean towards metal-like music.

Where, oh where did I go wrong. Perhaps I can blame it on the current Government as well. LOL

639857 2008-02-28 19:02:00 The "metal" I tend to listen to is more commonly called Symphonic Metal. Nightwish (Not the current singer), Within Temptation and Tristania are a couple of decent examples.

The generic Heavy Metal, stuff like Pantera, I generally don't listen to. Iron Maiden is great though.

639858 2008-02-28 19:15:00 Jeez, I don't even recognise any of the names of the bands in this post except Black Sabbath , and I will not be able to recognise any of their songs even if you pay me. Metla, a boring life, heh?

Probably because you won't listen to it is where you went wrong. There is a softer side to metal/rock.

Perhaps you can blame it on the government, alot of metal bands are right into politics or issues that deal with today's youth.

You could do hell of a lot worse then have a son who listens to metal/rock.

If it's the only thing you dont like is he listens to metal then you have a pretty good son.

639861 2008-02-29 00:54:00 I like rock, most kinds of rock music, but I can't for the life of me enjoy metal/heavy metal. I have a couple of metal songs in my collection though, but I've only listened to them about twice each.

I'm more of an indie/punk rock lover. Favourite album of all time is a more mellow Snow Patrol's Eyes Open.
