640601 2008-02-15 11:25:00 Some of us are on Dialup.

I remember dial-up.

[shudder]

I think I would rather have no internet than go back to dial-up. I'd just do my emails at a cafe.

640602 2008-02-15 12:31:00 It's 1.30 in the morning.
I'm sitting in comfort at home, peacefully websurfing in between whatever else I may feel like doing.

It's North Dunedin. The students are arriving back in town. It's Friday night...

And I'm going to walk down the road to an internet cafe & pay to use someone else's machine - just because it has broadband.

Yeah, right!

Edit: Forgive me, but the word "smug" comes to mind when reading the above post..

640603 2008-02-16 01:55:00 The game itself is 491kb which should take 2 or so minutes on dialup .
.

Hmmm . Depends on the quality of the dialup . Theres some here that would take 1/2 hour to get the little file .

I was playing it last night and reading bits out to a friend on the phone, very entertaining .
But I guess you have had to have done it before - nostalgia and all that .

I was waiting for the bit where . . . . . . . . but it wouldn't mean much to most of you . . . . . .

Worth its download!

640604 2008-06-10 06:20:00 This seems to have turned into quite an indepth chat on dialup :-/.

Worth its download!

Thanks, mate.
Sorry about this 'extremely' late reply, the forum seems to have turned off updates for this thread.
Anyway, now that i'm here again. this topic can continue some more.

Would love to hear some more opinions of the game.

Also: Keep an eye out for the sequel to this game. If you loved kings quest, space quest, police quest or leisure suit larry, you'll love what I have planned for the near future.

Who didn't?
I hope you liked the old AGI ones from the '80's.

640607 2008-06-10 23:51:00 Oh, how I fondly remember text-based games. There's quite a following at www.adrift.org.uk Few good games there too (I never finished the game "Three monkeys") ubergeek85 (131)

I've never seen that site before, but it looks quite interesting.
Maybe i'll put my game up there...

640609 2008-06-11 00:15:00 Er, not quite. It's for the adrift engine, and games that make use of it, not stand-alone games. ubergeek85 (131)

Yea, i just noticed that.

Damn, I thought I found a good text-game community to showcase my engine to.
