640580 2008-02-16 01:44:00 Totally agree. We, over 40 years, have had Double, Queen and now, King. King is just the greatest and even after a Double, seemed huge when we first bought it 5 years ago. Great nights sleep as when SWMBO has a restless night, I don't notice it.

The only problem is that when you wish to whisper sweet nothings in someones ear, you have to go and find them!! A joke really, but it is a bit like sleeping in the middle of a football field at first.

Ken ;) Once upon a time a time you would have crawled 100 yard's over broken glass, to whisper 'sweet nothings' in some one's ear. !

640581 2008-02-16 01:55:00 I'm 81 . 56kg, and my wife won't tell me her weight . . . but we have a Sterns & Foster Extra Firm pillow top .

It's the best I've ever slept on . . . although I loved my old water bed a lot too . . . but that was many years ago .

Don't worry about impressions on the pillow top part . They don't harm sleeping or comfort . Mine is guaranteed to NOT get too far outta flat, (1-inch/2 . 54cm) is the max allowed) and so far in one year, no problem . . . but I keep a close watch on it for the warrantee .

640582 2008-02-16 04:09:00 You can get them firm, Only the top inch needs to be soft, and my back feels much better, though its pretty ruined and has deep aches and sudden stabbing pain everyday....

Yea, I weigh about the same as you I think, so I like firm beds. But Ive taking a liking to our new couches... by choice lol

640583 2008-02-18 16:25:00 We have bought a Simmons "Saphire" with a pillowtop, incorporating a wool/silk blend. Interestingly enough the shop assistant cautioned us that the mattress protector and any electric blanket would make the top appear slightly harder, so to include that in our decision on softness.

Many thanks indeed for the help from all of you, particularly Radium who went the "extra mile". Certainly helped us !
