789017 2009-07-05 01:38:00 You probably cant use 2 modems, since you cant put your username / password in / on 2 different modems. You'll have to get a wireless modem/router, or use an ethernet cable Speedy Gonzales (78)
789018 2009-07-05 01:46:00 Whereabouts would I get prompted for Username/Password? Inside the PS3's connection setup?

Also what account information is this, my Telecom Account or something else?

I've connected my PS3 to the modem I have once before, it was a while ago but as far as I remember it was pretty much plug in and play. If I had been asked for some sort of account information I probably would have been stumped.

Dont need to, it's saved in your modems internal config (when set up originally), thats why your PS3 hooked up right away last time.

Ah right . So is it possible for me to have two different modems connected to the internet at the same time?

I don't see why I can't have two devices using the same account information, what if I had simply bought a new modem to use for my PC in place of the one I have now?

Or is the problem that you can't have two modems accessing the internet simultaneously in a household?

789021 2009-07-05 03:25:00 If youre talking about 2 adsl modems then no you cant have 2 modems (on the same phone line). Because both would have to have your ADSL login and password to connect (which I doubt the ISP will let you do). Unless you had two separate phone lines, modems and 2 accounts as well. You can buy another modem / router and replace the one you have now. BUT, you still cant connect 2 adsl modems to the same line Speedy Gonzales (78)
789022 2009-07-05 03:36:00 You'll definitely need at least a wireless router (seeing as you have a modem), the wireless adapter (receiver/transmitter) is built-in to your PS3, so you don't need anything else.

You've answered your own question ;)

789023 2009-07-05 03:47:00 Ok I understand now.

You guys wouldn't happen to be able to recommend me any decent wireless routers for my needs at around $200 ($300 would be my absolute max, but it would have to be for something REALLY good and guaranteed performance)?

789024 2009-07-05 03:55:00 Why not use an adhoc network to share internet?

Its easier than it sounds

And for a good wireless G router:

789025 2009-07-05 04:02:00 Personally don't have wireless, but have never had any problems with my D-Link DSL-504T, have heard only good things about Linksys :2cents:

What are the advantages/disadvantages of adhoc versus getting a wireless router?

Also, would you say that a G router is more appropriate for my needs than an N router?
The signal has to go from upstairs to downstairs (probably about 20m straight line distance), and through the obstacles of a couple of walls and doors. Will these factors compromise the router's signal enough to affect internet connection?

Finally, the link you provided gives me a list of products. Was there a certain model you were recommending?
