642882 2008-02-23 21:30:00 A reproduction of sleezy real life of scum in America posing as entertainment. zqwerty (97)
642883 2008-02-23 23:06:00 I was left up in the air wanting more of a conclusion. It rated highly on imdb.com - 8.6 when I lasted checked. I must admit I thought a lot about the movie after I had seen it. Probably a sign of a good movie. jberries (13063)
642884 2008-02-23 23:27:00 I dislike most of Woody Harrelson's work . . he's just too slimy for me . . . but I like to see Tommy Lee Jones in almost anything .

The deciding factor here is the reality of the story .

The US is being slowly taken over by the Mexican Mafia in the southern states . . they are infiltrating the local chambers of commerce, the mayoral and city council members and turning the cities into small Tijuanas or Tecates .

Just recently the FBI has started to launch some investigations into these elections and trying to see if they are racketeering and acting seditiously in the view of the US Constitution . Many Texan, Californian and even Illinois and Michigan cities are being so invaded these days .

Arizona has thrown a great number of questionable "immigrants" out of the state and has prohibited their working by fining their employers $2500/day for each day an "undocument-able worker" is in their employ .

Since the story cuts so close to the bone, many people are aghast of it's violence and shock-values blood-letting and are turning a cold shoulder to it in the theaters .

I imagine the Tejanos ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Tejano" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) (yes . . . they still exist and are metropolitan now) will go to see it in droves . . but I will stay out of the theaters for reasons of the violence and theme . .

Speaking of movies, has anyone seen "The Legend of 1900"?

642885 2008-02-24 01:12:00 I really enjoyed the first hour. After that it dried up and seemed to struggle to continue to entertain. 6/10 from me. rob_on_guitar (4196)
642886 2008-02-24 01:39:00 Haven't seen it yet, but does it actually have a silence shotgun in it? Or is someone lying to me. --Wolf-- (128)
642887 2008-02-24 02:38:00 Yes it does WolfForest -- and it's used pretty effectively as well!

I quite liked the movie but would the other poster's sentiments about the first hour as well as the ending.

Better than average though in my opinion.

642890 2008-02-24 08:19:00 Yes, by no means be put off my comment, I thought it was a good movie. Just not great. Dont believe the hype. Good acting, filming. First hour was excellent, I cant place my finger on it but it did lose it's intensity and to me dragged on a bit.

It does take you by surprise though, I wasn't expecting it to turn out the way it did.
