| 642035 | 2008-02-20 01:24:00 | L. Ron Hubbard is a genius! - well, maybe not as a sci-fi writer (I s'pose he was OK at that), but as an entrepreneur, no question. Scientology's at least as loopy as this church (http://www.venganza.org/), except people actually take it seriously & I believe as a "religion" it has tax-exempt status in the US of A - possibly the entire rationale behind the organization. Lots of rich adherents (a virtual who's who in Hollywood, it seems) & expensive bunch of lawyers unleashed upon any criticism. |

People have even killed themselves over it. sounds alot like a few other religions no? if it wasn't for the "church"'s habit of taking hundreds of thousands from it's members, brainwashing them, telling them that psychiratry and most the medical profession is wrong, the habit of sueing critics, and their habit of infiltrating governments (they nearly got banned from germany for that one) it wouldn't be so bad |

| 642040 | 2008-02-20 04:53:00 | Go figure. really, the only major difference, that i can see, is that if you ask a christian, jew, jehova's witness, muslim, buddist, rastafarian, jedi, pastafarian, pagan, wiccan, mac user or any other religious individual about their religion they will tell you about god, jesus, budda, weed, the force, the flying spaghetti monster, ye gods, steve jobs, etc etc ask a scientologist, and you'll be told to go into a centre to be tested for thetans. it isn't until after they've taken ridiculous sums of money from you they tell you the big secret about lord xenu etc etc (not the churches don't normally take money, but scientology is really only a rich man's religion) |
