640976 2008-02-17 06:19:00 It's certainly something you don't see or hear about everyday.

Tomorrow night

640977 2008-02-17 06:39:00 And next week the Daily Enquirer will be forced to reveal how Princess Di saw a whale and a 747 collide in a coal mine. R2x1 (4628)
640978 2008-02-17 06:50:00 I don't understand how you can have a crash mid-air. I mean, you have no other traffic beside you, when you see a large metal object coming at you, why can't you swerve to the right/left??

Accidents are called accidents for a reason...

640980 2008-02-17 07:09:00 Most unfortunate incident. A feel for the families involved.

Yes, you would think that you could easily see another aircraft in front of your view but aircraft can be on a converging path and before they can see each other... bang. You have another dimension in the air which means unless you are exactly the same height, you will get away with it... but not in this case.

640981 2008-02-17 08:00:00 Oh man that is very sad. Small aircraft are very unpredictable, especially when using choppers. They don't have the luxury of bigger air craft with sonor and radar etc, to a certain extent anyway. Just timing and miscommunication by the look of it.

My thoughts with the families, total tragedy.

640982 2008-02-17 08:11:00 Air Traffic Control is normally in contact with all aircraft, in it's air space at all times. If not there are some big questions to be asked. BobM (1138)
