790491 2009-07-10 00:13:00 Hi,
Recently I bought a new video card for my PC,because I had problems with the other one.My new card is HD 4850.Everything seems to work just fine and I have had no problems so far,but since I put the new video card I can't hear the POST (power on self test) of my computer anymore. Is this bad and what should I do? Also the new video card has an auxiliary power requirement slot in which I connected two cables from the pc's power supply. Can this be the cause for the no post sound ?

790492 2009-07-10 00:25:00 Did you connect the right plug from the PSU into it?? Does it say PCI-E on it? Does it take a 4/6 pin connector or a molex connector? You didnt plug the CPU or ATX 12v adapter into it did you? Speedy Gonzales (78)
790493 2009-07-10 00:27:00 the card is 6 pin,and i connected 2 3-pin cables into it.the cable that came with the card is for 2 3-pin cables on one of the ends and with 6 pin on the other end which goes into the video. emes34 (11736)
790494 2009-07-10 03:13:00 Take out the card and see if it beeps. If it doesn't the PSU or the mobo is dead Blam (54)

I dont think he means that the PC is not working! What I understand is that the PC works fine at the moment with the new video card, just that when it boots up, he doesnt see/hear the POST screen anymore as he did when he had the older video card.

790497 2009-07-10 06:31:00 Unrelated except perhaps when you put the card in maybe you knocked the inbuilt speaker thingy off and its not connected to the board anymore. pctek (84)
790498 2009-07-10 23:18:00 Yes everything works fine only I can't hear the beep anymore.I will take out the card later and see if the beeper is still working. emes34 (11736)
790499 2009-07-10 23:23:00 Open the case and see if the speaker is still connected to the mobo header Speedy Gonzales (78)
