2009-07-09 08:07:00 | A friend has recently received two emails but cannot open them because they arrive in computer language. Could someone explain why please ? | Bas (8454) | |
2009-07-09 08:19:00 | What do you mean by "computer language"? Are they seeing random strange characters for letters instead of English? Or, it is an attachment they can't open? What is the attachment extension (the letters after the dot in the file name, eg .jpeg, .doc, and .exe) Are these emails from people they know and have been able to open them OK in the past?

2009-07-09 09:10:00 | And what do you mean by open? Normally the email is viewable - hence you say "in computer language". Sounds like it might be displaying html rather than pretty fonts etc. What browser are you using?

2009-07-09 09:49:00 | This is interesting. Can't open them coz they are in "computer language" or why they were sent/arrived in "computer language"? And as asked above what do you mean by "computer language"? Assembler? Object? ( I think not) Binary (ditto). Givus more info.

2009-07-09 10:49:00 | The email which opens in other computers just appears as strange characters. Outlook Express is the mail programme. It arrives as an attachment with pps after the dot. | Bas (8454) | |
2009-07-09 10:58:00 | Sounds like MS power point. But I don't see why it should present as "computer language". Try "open using" and a browser. Send an image. | mark c (247) | |
2009-07-09 12:33:00 | This happens because you don't have Office (or at least Powerpoint Viewer) installed (unlike the 'other computers'). Download and install PowerPoint Viewer from Microsoft, it will 'plug-in' to Outlook Express and allow these .pps files/attachments to be viewed www.microsoft.com There is also an earlier version (www.microsoft.com) (2003) on the above web page and Word Viewer 2007 (www.microsoft.com) too.
