641856 2008-02-19 20:21:00 at the end of the day its the consumer who sets the charge out price. regardless of if its required to keep your business running.
a mate has similar problem, if he ups the hourly rate people just throw the gear out and buy a new one.
considering his gear and training is worth 10 times what most pc techs is, you would think he would be charging at least $100 an hour. unfortunately customers won't let him.

i've had that with pc's, they have a software fault and they simply throw the pc into the dump and go buy a new one.

with various different trades i've been involved with over the years, most people bork at prices over $50 an hour.

641859 2008-02-20 01:27:00 yeh that's fine but the work I do is about 90% callouts in the home so .......I have to be *reasonable*......(not sayin you guys arent').....

this morning for example I did a job that took 2 & 1/2 hours and got $100 and a bottle of chivas regal whiskey (12 year old)........cant really complain

and yes I must do a good job because it's not uncommon for folks to throw in a few extra $$

641862 2008-02-20 04:44:00 $150 is a lot for just a desktop technician IMO, Network and System specialists are around $135 to $150 SolMiester (139)
