790679 2009-07-17 10:44:00 I got my head around Enlite( thanks Speedy) and created the XP+slipstreamed SP3 cd, unfortunatly the system still did not recognise it.

?? Do you mean when you try to boot from the cd, it doesnt boot? Or while youre in windows? Is it finalised?

On top of that there are some additional problems, DVD/cd writer reverting to RAM drive, or cd drive in MY COMPUTER
despite Device manager showing it as an Asus DRW-2014L1T

This is normal, I've got the same burner (Well the 2014L1 - IDE). When no cd is in it, it'll say DVD RW drive, when there's a blank cd or DVD in it, it'll change to CD Drive ( In XP, but stays as DVD RW Drive in Vista).

Update the firmware (dlsvr04.asus.com) unzip it first then run this. Turn any AV programs off while you do it

Only update the firmware IF youre sure its the 2014L1T (its not for the 2014L1)

790680 2009-07-17 11:29:00 Slipstreaming SP3 and burning the ISO went smoothly, although the progam I was using, Deepburner, had some problems using/locating the drive/burner to burn from.
Eventually a reboot, and immediate burn solved the problem. Unfortunatly trying to get sfc /scannow to recognise the new disc failed.
Downloaded the firmware update, will upgrade when paperwork agrees with Device Manager

790681 2009-07-19 12:00:00 Progress!
I did a repair install, unfortunatly it did not cure the scannow problem. But a bit of Googling found the solution, a corrupted .dll cache file! Applied the fix and all go, with a complete scan. Once again it did not fix my original problem. So I started to look at the Nvidia driver problem and once again uninstalled/reinstalled, this time I used Revo and drive sweeper to uninstall, and found success. Nvidea control panel now works fine. but original "no load in frames" problems persist. I have found the effected programs do load properly in 800*600 so it may be a display problem for those programs??????????
