790669 2009-07-13 09:28:00 If you want to slipstream SP3, you may need SP1 first, slipstream that then SP3. Speedy Gonzales (78)
790670 2009-07-13 09:37:00 Windows HomeXP, includes SP2 PPp (9511)
790671 2009-07-13 09:42:00 Ah ok all you have to do is copy the contents to a folder on the hdd (you cant add to the cd). Then use something like Nlite to slipstream SP3 (you'll need the install file for SP3 too). Nlite will let you add services packs and updates, then let you create an ISO. Which you can burn back to cd Speedy Gonzales (78)
790672 2009-07-13 09:51:00 Sorry ,no burner software working. ( See first and second to last post ) PPp (9511)
790673 2009-07-13 09:56:00 Nlite can burn to cd and create an ISO. Or get This its free (www.cdburnerxp.se) it'll do ISO's Speedy Gonzales (78)
790674 2009-07-13 11:43:00 OK Nlite seems good ,at least it loads up properly.
I have copied and pasted my xpcd contents to a new folder plus SP3. I opted to replace the xpcd files with the SP3 files, of the same name. Is that OK? the folder size is just a bit over 1Gig a bit too much for a cd.
The SP3 files are 544MB, is the anything I could safely delete to fit a cd from either source?

790675 2009-07-13 11:51:00 Add SP3 to Nlite (after you select the service pack option, so Nlite can slipstream it). Dont put the SP3 install file in the same folder as the XP files you copied to the hdd/folder. Otherwise it'll add the SP3 install file to the ISO once you slipstream. And it wont fit on a CD. You have to run Nlite (then select the folder you copied the contents of the CD to), then select the service pack option / other options.

Then add SP3 after, then Nlite will slipstream it to the ISO / folder. It wont work properly, if you add the SP3 install file to the folder, as Nlite needs to extract it / slipstream it

All went well with the compiling, but I did not find any option in Nlite to burn to CD?
I'll see if I can download a burner that does not freeze, or failing that, put it on a USB stick and burn the ISO at work

790677 2009-07-14 07:28:00 You have to select the ISO option (the same place where you select the service pack / drivers etc options. then it should give you the option to create the ISO (or burn it)

Well I think its got the option. Havent used Nlite for a few mths now

790678 2009-07-17 10:35:00 I got my head around Enlite( thanks Speedy) and created the XP+slipstreamed SP3 cd, unfortunatly the system still did not recognise it. On top of that there are some additional problems, DVD/cd writer reverting to RAM drive, or cd drive in MY COMPUTER
despite Device manager showing it as an Asus DRW-2014L1T, Sandra 2009 will not install, some problems with my accounting program, in common with others that indicate registration/recognition problems. I guess my next option is to do a comprehensive backup of data. try a restore installation of XP, and failing that, revert to an older backup and update. Sound about right?
BTW thanks for all the good advice so far( its only when your drowning you appreaciate a good swimming coach)!!
