| 643298 | 2008-02-25 04:45:00 | I have been running differant versions of Nortons AV on differant computers since 1998 and have never experienced any problems. Can't say the same for McAffee PC-Cillin which completely trashed my computer. :) |

| 643299 | 2008-02-25 04:57:00 | VERY happy with ESET NOD32 (www.eset.com) on Vista here. It's a toss up between it and Kaspersky AV (www.kaspersky.com) if you're looking to purchase AV software. Otherwise it's either AntiVir Personal (www.free-av.com/) or the WinPooch (http:) + ClamWin ( I've never been a fan of avast! (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html" target="_blank">www.clamwin.com/) combo. I've never been a fan of avast! (http:) (a skinnable AV program doesn't seem right) and AVG's (free.grisoft.com) features matrix looks disappointing (sure, I know they need to drum up business). | sal (67) | ||
| 643300 | 2008-02-25 05:27:00 | Nod32 all the way. I used to use Norton's years ago, until one day it trashed the whole system, and after scanning with Nod connected as a second drive and pulling out 6 viruses it restarted enough to remove Norton with their removal tool for when it corrupts, and repaired from there. I see it daily Nortons, AVG all missing infections. Today I got a Customers PC, had Norton Internet security 2008 (Trial version expires in 18 days approx) PC slow as a wet week - says the PC is clean. Ripped Norton's out - instant speed back, currently scanning with Nod32 at 62%, located / Quarantined 5 Infections so far. AV Softwares only any good if it detects / removes the infections - so if someones using a certain AV and its saying its clean - Is it really ?? or is it simply the AV cant detect the bugs. ??? |

| 643301 | 2008-02-25 06:05:00 | Avast Home if you don't want to pay for it. NOD32 if you do- Best one out there + Comodo firewall = |

I see the same thing all the time . I'll have to remember to take a screenshot of the big norton "everything is OK" thing in the task bar, right underneath a balloon from a simitfraud variation . Even NOD has trouble with some trojans, but at least it knows when you are infected . |

| 643303 | 2008-02-25 06:22:00 | To be fair, it is a lot better that 2006 and 2007, but compared to Nod32, AVG, Kaspersky, etc, it is still extremely bloated. I was under the impression Nod32 has one of the best detection ratings of any AV software, I use it on a daily basis, and it is constantly picking up viruses etc that other AV software leaves behind or doesn't pick up at all, mainly Norton, AVG and Avast, although Avast is the better of the three. Does NOD32 tell you when it has picked up a virus?. I have it here but it has never told me I have a virus so either I haven't had a virus or it isn't working as it should.? It advises kernel updates every day though. |

| 643304 | 2008-02-25 06:58:00 | I'm using Avast Home at the mo, I spose I could try NOD. Since the office is just down Dominion road here somewhere. So, I could go in person to pay for it (Well, I cant pay it any other way, anyway lol). $61.52 +GST, isnt too bad for the AV. If the discount is 30% to renew it, whats that cost? $18-20 $? So, $49-51 to renew the licence, after a year? |

Well a picture is worth a thousand words - so heres three thousand  Yesterday I was downloading Zonealarm for someone - it got most of the way through and as I mentioned yesterday Nod is picking up something in ZA as a bug Heres what happened (www.imagef1.net.nz) & when downloading SmitfraudFix (www.imagef1.net.nz). I also have some programs to recover peoples passwords, the way they work Nod Thinks they are a Virus (www.imagef1.net.nz) But they aren't BUT its in Ya face so yes Nod Does warn you. |

| 643307 | 2008-02-25 09:25:00 | Thanks wainuitech that is very interesting. I guess as I haven't seen anything like that for a couple of years I have been lucky. Presumably if the kernels keep updating NOD32 is working ok. | Pato (2463) | ||
