2008-02-25 00:31:00 | So yes, the helicopters are expensive, and yes, The End of Reality, I do fund it, along with all the other taxpayers. I was meaning you personally funding the whole thing by yourself if you want them to run it for everything as the budget for it will not allow them to use the chopper for everything... EDIT: Yes, Beeswax has the idea :D

2008-02-25 00:45:00 | My neighbor says that it would only take a few dedicated cops in towers with a rifle and a high powered scope to shoot the offenders . He then suggests that the dead offenders be left on the side of the road in their vehicles as they died as a dis-incentive for other law breakers and scofflaws . Kinda reminds me of modern version of the cages called "Gibbets ( . bestweb . net/~rg/execution/gibbeting . htm" target="_blank">users . bestweb . net)" for dissidents hung from a tree or post to die a horrible and lingering death in plain view of the other citizens . Also check out "Dule Trees ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Dule_Tree" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org)" . . . a part of heraldry from ye olden daiz of yore in Merrie Olde England and Scotland . Fascinating! Gruesome but true!

EDIT: Yes, Beeswax has the idea :D They do run the helicopters for anything and everything. I don't think that was the case originally, but "Eagle" is around somewhere most of the day. If you listen regularly to their frequencies you will hear that "Eagle" is usually there, even if he is only stooging around. I'm certain that if they had to wait for "Eagle" to take to the air from Mechanics Bay the crooks would be miles away. But no, unfortunately I am not that rich. Would be nice. One thing that I have noticed: If you hear or see "Eagle" overhead, the cops have usually lost who it is they are pursuing and hope that "Eagle" can help them. I have also hear that the thermal camera, used at night, can tell male from female as female is showing more leg therefore more warmth. Great idea, Beeswax. |

2008-02-25 04:00:00 | I'm suprised that I managed to spell pretty well considering I just got woken by the cops, I was half awake and my eyes were covered in dried crap. And since the Eagle hovers quite often around our area, I like to take photos of em. I took one last week which caused the eagly guy to stop for a second. Haven't been arrested yet.

2008-02-25 18:54:00 | I do understand that the helicopters (they have two) are expensive, but at least one appears to be in the air most of the time . It seems they may only come down to refuel and change shifts - at least that is the way that it seems to me from some while listening to their frequencies . It certainly does not take all that long to fly from one side of Auckland to the other - perhaps five minutes . So yes, the helicopters are expensive, and yes, The End of Reality, I do fund it, along with all the other taxpayers . I was not saying that the cops speed just for fun . I'm quite certain that they only speed when necessary, but when they do it looks excessive and bloody dangerous! Stolen car and/or stolen plates aside, it still would be much safer for all concerned if the cars were pursued from up above . I have heard of many cop chases that have ended in a rather spectacular fashion and it is usually the innocent who are hurt . :annoyed: 5 minutes to fly from one side of Auckland to other . Bombay to Helensville you would need an SR71 .
