Maybe if you gave some indication of what sort of games you were planning on playing. It might be easier to assist you.

Sorry for the hate thing, i guess it was out of line,
thinking of playing like 6 month - one year old games. I do know it would be possible running Crysis(although not well) on low graphics if i force it and OC the cpu.

642628 2008-02-22 06:21:00 What sort of games you talking about FPS, RTS, RPG?

Don't even think about going near Crysis with those specs.

642629 2008-02-22 06:29:00 with forceware i ran crysis on a 4000+ and 6100GT at 12FPS on lowest graphics and 800x600! i thought that was pretty funny, FPS and NFS and other racing games. AMD3ALL3THE3WAY3 (116)

How much is this Corsair RAM? Yes its a good brand but there a plenty of other alternatives that a probably cheaper and not that bad quality.

They are much more hateful! I like pcworld.

642633 2008-02-22 06:57:00 If you get rid of the aftermarket cooler and get a dual core cpu and possibly 2GB of RAM you will be well on your way This "shouldn't" cost much more but will GREATLY improve performance. I would then even suggesting waiting and purchasing a 8600GT when you have a bit more money as a 8400GS is rather useless (www.nvidia.com) and as mentioned no good for overclocking. Prices seem a bit dearer down there then here in Auckland, not sure what some of the cheaper shops a like, Maybe some members from down there can help you. stormdragon (6013)
642634 2008-02-22 07:00:00 When or if your rig dies due to overclocking then ask there. If done correctly, overclocking is fine, my system has been running all its life overclocked as far as it will go on stock coolers, temps are not enough to warrant any concern...

But gaming and Sempron/Celeron are not good together... I suggest you keep saving till you can afford something more decent that will be able to run games properly, that way you will be happier. (I went through this)

That is fine by me.
Go for whatever your choice is in the end.

642636 2008-02-22 09:09:00 put the money you would spend on an aftermarket cooler into a faster CPU instead of overclocking a slow one - you will probably get better performance for your money.

Also, RAM is cheap. go for 2GB. Adata is usually fine, but be careful where you buy from - there are some cowboys out there that don't honour warranties.
