642107 2008-02-22 05:51:00 OK - just did a manual check on Windows Update ( Vista) - This wasn't showing (www.imagef1.net.nz)there yesterday ??

Early March Maybe ?? Download of 66Mb - so not to bad.

It isn't showing up for some of us. Can't find anything on Microsoft's site about it either.

642108 2008-02-22 06:29:00 wainuitech: Vista x64 right? Nope 32 Bit Ultimate. strange thing though, it got about 80% downloaded then stopped, Left it over night and it was still at 80% - who knows

Mind you on the OEM/Partner site it says about downloading, supplies a link for system builders to slipstream and now ( today) Its there to download (www.imagef1.net.nz) and Downloading right now (www.imagef1.net.nz) Look at the build number as well- different to the so called Leaked RTM

642109 2008-02-22 06:56:00 wainuitech: Yeah, I just clicked after posting that it would have said x64 in the SP1 update title. The Vista SP1 x64 update definitely was showing for non-MSDN subscribers earlier today but has apparently been pulled (gizmodo.com) due to problems with KB937287. All seemingly a bit unorganised but I suppose only because people are digging around for it and saying "RC2 is actually final" blah, blah, etc, etc.

Does this file's size (colophon.co.nz) compare to the one you're downloading? (just temporarily start downloading for byte comparison)

642110 2008-02-22 07:08:00 After It stopped the other day I double clicked it on the download, and it actually said RC1, looking at the KB Number that is the RC1.

The one thats coming from MS through the OEM /partner says SP1, and wasn't there earlier today when I looked - only a message saying available no later than 22nd Feb. Download size is 1.13Gb - still coming VERY SLOWLY - guess MS servers are being hit hard

642111 2008-02-23 02:29:00 Update to the above posts, Installed the SP1 from MS This morning.

Points of interest so far -

The PC that its installed on is very basic in spec's - even low - P4 2.5, 1 Gb RAM, FX5200 Card on a old 865 Board. 40Gb IDE Drive

Copied the 1.13 GB file over the Network - Much faster

Deleting objects is instant - hit delete and POW - The 1.13 GB download of SP1 hit delete - GONE - less than a second. (After burning to CD and copying to Server of course)

Noticeable speed increase in the PC, folders / apps all open and run faster.

Tested all programs and so far every things working - and faster.

Network discovery , Faster - Before SP1 would take about 15-20 seconds to "run through" AFTER SP1 - 5 seconds

Downside :o Took 2 hours 25 minutes to install

642112 2008-02-24 08:07:00 The 1.13 GB image contains Vista SP1 for both x86 and x64 and has been publicly available for a good week and a bit (www.itwire.com) I'm sure. sal (67)
642113 2008-02-24 08:57:00 There was also a glitch (www.news.com)

Where people who werent meant to get it, got it

642114 2008-02-24 20:36:00 yep it was leaked the other week, but It was not officially available to system builders till last week.

I noticed a few people mentioned it was available from ???? BUT I also notice from what I have seen no one has actually posted here saying what they thought of it - Wonder why that is ?

I know some one who did download it from the hijacked site, and we compared build numbers, He has informed me that mine is different to his, but wont say what it is, only asked to borrow my DVD I burnt the "official" one so he can install it.

So far though I've had no problems with it.
