2008-02-20 05:03:00 | If you can try and view all religions, past and present, with impartiality, You will see them all as nutjobs either making up answers to delude themselves and others (for numerous reasons) or nutjobs willing to accept any load of rubbish if it brings a warm feeling. | Metla (12) | |
2008-02-20 06:01:00 | I think it is more a case of some people need the crutch of religion to give them some security and perhaps some purpose to their lives, and possibly insurance against mortality; but it doesnt excuse some of the strange practices and rituals some get up to in the name of God or what/whoever, or use Its name as a cause of/for the murder of their fellow man (which is wrong in any language!). | feersumendjinn (64) | |

2008-02-20 07:28:00 | Scientology was not originally a Church or a religion, and they were practising a somewhat pseudo psychiatry called Dianetics, that had been espoused by L Ron Hubbard. Following several prosecutions in the USA Scientology was launched as a Church, primarily to take advantage of the US constitutional right of freedom of religion, and the prosecutions pending were defended on the grounds of religious persecution - the tax benefits bestowed on churches flowed on as a bonus. It has now become an extremely powerful and wealthy organisation, with a paranoiac attitude to its critics.whom it uses its massive assets and influence to discredit.

2008-02-20 07:32:00 | It's a crock like all other religions to me. But some have more money or power (well I guess those are one and the same these days) and that is all I see seperating them. If people believe in it for a better way of life then good on them, but as soon as it starts dictating or interferring or judging politics, non believer ways, media or other religions then it is more then a crock and more of a scam to get more money, power etc Scientology is just another politic in disguise: Lies and delusion by empty promises for those looking for a better a god then the ones that have been before.

2008-02-20 07:39:00 | Scientology is nothing compared to all that pastafarian venganza crap. It was made as a sort of joke, but there are some nutcases who take it literally. Those nutcases should be de-nutted. Or taken for all their worth?

And all of our belief systems inform our politics and opinions too - and greed and avarice are human characteristics - not just peculiar to religions. |
