2009-07-12 08:41:00 | Have you turned whatever services back on?? You didnt disable any services under msconfig did you?? If you did, you shouldnt thats not HOW you disable services | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-07-12 09:04:00 | Doing a repair or full install because of a couple of services not working is an over Kill. The Windows File Protection is disabled in the registry. First try this -- Click Start, Run. Type Regedit and press ENTER. Navigate to the following branch: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon Double-click SFCDisable and set its Value data to 0 Exit the Registry Editor and restart Windows. Download SFCenable (www.winhelponline.com) unzip and run / merge the attached REG file. Restart Windows for the change to take effect. Now try running sfc /scannow to see if it fixes the other problem. Edited: as speedy also mentioned make sure the RCP service is running: Start Run "services.msc" (without the quotes) Enter button or click okay Locate the two RPC services. Manually start them if they're not already started. Perform system file check again and see if it works.

2009-07-12 09:32:00 | No, did it properly, using run services.msc Put everything back to default except stuff that I clearly didn't use. On thinking about it I originally modified the services over 18 months ago before I had any problems, so it may not be an issue.

2009-07-12 09:51:00 | Have you run a full spyware scan-- The reason for asking is looking at the Log, the following entries: ( they may be programs you installed) O23 - Service: IsposureAgent (isposure_svc) - Epitiro Ltd. - E:\Programs\isposure\IsposureAgent.exe & O23 - Service: Sandboxie Service (SbieSvc) - tzuk - E:\Programs\Sandboxi\SbieSvc.exe E:\Programs\isposure\IsposureAgent.exe E:\Programs\Sandboxi\SbieSvc.exe E:\CDBurnerXP\NMSAccessU.exe <<< Log in Post 8 Whats on drive E: ?????? Simply data, or have you got programs installed on both C: & E: drive ?? In the original post you said CDburner was playing up, Why is it installed in E: drive ??? That along with the other apps Listed above could be your problem.. One, SbieSvc.exe relates to: SBieSvc.exe is part of the Sandboxie application that allows a user to run your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer. Looks like you have blocks in place and that's may be whats causing the problems.

2009-07-12 11:19:00 | Thanks Wanui t scannow now runs, asks for my windowsXP CD but says its not the right one, I have installed SP3 but can't think of any reason it would not recognise it. Isposure is a program that checks your internet preformance for ISP ratings, and Sandboxie sandboxes your browser so even if you pick up something undesirable it won't get onto your system. Divided HD into C:system E:programs F:data, some programs insist on C: and some slip through. Will do a spyware scan tonight. Thanks for the help

2009-07-12 11:35:00 | asks for my windowsXP CD but says its not the right one, I have installed SP3 but can't think of any reason it would not recognise it. Seen that before as well, if SP3 is installed, sometimes ( odd occasion) you can put in a XP SP2 CD and its says its wrong. You "May" have to slipstream SP3 into a CD. OR - could simply be files are corrupted and not reading the CD correctly. "If" you need to make a New CD with SP3 Slipstreamed , thats easy enough. Other times if your system is XP Pro, and a XP Hm is used it will also do this. PS: thanks for explaining how the system / Data is laid out - makes it easier to fault find that way  PSS: I knew what the programs were I listed, just making sure you put them in and not some rough software. These days some rough software masks its self as legit software -- See it almost daily in this job.
