789830 2009-07-07 22:51:00 Okay . . . so you are all saying that B2C etailing is the way to go . But I don't really believe in internet shopping, because it still gives me a sense of insecurity . . . . . .

On the other hand, some monitors that I wanted, like the LG 2252, are on sale at a very small range of shops, and almost all of them are online shops in Auckland .

It's getting harder now . . .

You'll more than likely be safer buying from somewhere like Ascent Or ComputerLounge than your average shop .

789831 2009-07-07 23:18:00 I have spent between 5 and 10 thousand dollars shopping online over the last 8 years or so here and overseas without a problem.

789838 2009-07-08 09:45:00 Well, at work we had 6 new HP LCD monitors added 3 years ago. Now, 3 years on, 4 are dead. We're not talking bad pixels, we're talking zero image and melted components on the motherboards!
Even a bloomin fuse had the solder from it's contacts point melted away! These have some seriously bad components, or seriously bad design.

I don't have any experience with which to recommend a monitor, but I'd certainly not touch the cheap end of HP.

It's to make the point that one person having bought a few things and not had a problem is NOT a recommendation.

When loads of people are complaining about a certain business and one or two are not, what would you base your opinion on?

People are always saying "I bought xxx and didn't have a problem". It's meaningless.
