| 643033 | 2008-02-24 02:42:00 | I'm in the matket for a new 22" or 24" LCD monitor and having had a bit of a look at what's available I'm unsure which model to exactly choose. # I run Vista Home Premium # I do a lot of internet surfing, some gaming (mostly RTS) as well as some video editing. # Have a very capable PCIe graphics card (8800GT) My new monitor doesn't need to have anything but the basic DVI/VGA inputs (so not after composite/component/s-video inputs). I was hoping people could provide me with recommendations/comments based on LCDs they've bought & used in this size range. Leaning towards a Samsung or a Viewsonic monitor. Thanks in advance Paul |

It is a great screen for the price - I got it on special from one of my suppliers :p I use it a bit to watch TV on as well. (Via MediaPortal and the TV Server) It looks good too - All black (Including stand) except for a silver strip along the bottom with the control buttons on it in the middle. |

| 643035 | 2008-02-24 03:25:00 | :2cents: Hi CyaBro..... I have the 20" version of that Viewsonic. Really neat. Interesting to note that the 19" version, owned by a neighbour, has speakers built-in to the silver strip along the bottom. | Scouse (83) | ||
| 643036 | 2008-02-24 03:51:00 | I have used a Dell 22" entry-level widescreen monitor, and found it to be quite good. Obviously not the best monitor in the world, but perfectly adequate for what I wanted. | somebody (208) | ||

Thanks in advance Paul I am after the same thing. I am looking at the 22" Samsung 2232BW, wihich is the updatalso has very good feedback. The other one I am looking at is the Acer 24" P241WB, however there isn't much information about it, and some of the feedback I have seen hasn't been that good. The good thing about this one is that it is quite cheap for a 24", and also has HDMI which the samsung doesn't have. HOwever I am not sure whether the 24" would be too small for the resolution it runs at, and whether going to a 26-27" would be better on the eyes, which is why I am favouring the 22". Dell have also got some new 24inch ones, with quite a lot of features, but they are quite expensive. |

Thanks in advance Paul Just to note that the cheaper panels tend to have TN LCD panels, rather than VA. VA tend to be better for graphic work and colour reprodution, while TN are better for games. It appears that many 24 inch screens are VA, while many 22 inch ones seem to be TN. Therefore if you are playing games, and want a 24 inch one, you would be best to go for the Dell E248WFP Entry 24" (which looks to be a TN) than the Dell 2408WFP (which looks to be a PA), which would be better for graphic work and colour reporodution. You can almost tell which is which, as the PA panels have a wider viewing angle (up to 178 degrees), while the TN panels have a narrower viewing angle (160-170 degrees) |
