| 641637 | 2008-02-18 09:06:00 | What do you think is/are the worst program/s ever created (by any well-known company) for Windows, Mac, or Linux? This can include ease of use, memory usage or anything else. I'm going with 3 worst ones (I'm tied!) 1. Adobe Reader. :groan: 2. Google/Yahoo! Toolbars. :groan: :groan: 3. OpenOffice.org. :p |

| 641638 | 2008-02-18 09:15:00 | Nortons Zonealarm now. Had nothing but probs with it. Spybot, used to use it, it got worse, same with Adaware Anything that installs an indexing service, since it can slow ya system down. (ie: Toolbar programs) Never tried Openoffice, altho I've downloaded it but havent installed it. And downloaded Oxygenoffice earlier today, which is the premium version of OO. And twice as big (It includes templates, fonts etc as well). Nothing wrong with the above, at least theyre free. Havent used Adobe reader for a few yrs now. There's smaller programs round now, that do the same thing. They'll be others, just haveta remember what they are. |

| 641642 | 2008-02-18 09:25:00 | Where 1 is the worst: 1. IE's javascript debugger (any version). Worst error messages possible (many of them completely wrong) and no tracebacks. All in all makes javascript development for IE a very painful process. 2. Adobe Premier Elements 4 - Lovely interface, but out of the box supports close to zero video formats. Big promises, no product. 3. Gnome. While it's very well done, the damn thing has so many options missing that I spend more time trying to make it behave how I want it to than actually working. A simple 'enable/disable advanced options' setting would serve far, far better than their current approach of 'exterminate every option possible - we know far better than you do what your own preferences should be'. Grrrrrrrrrr.... mutter mutter...... aargh..... &*%@ing missing option...... *click*...... . *click*...... ... # apt-get install gconf-editor.... *click*...... !?!?!?........ *type*..... mumble.... mutter grrrr..... *&%@ THIS!!!... *CTRL+ALT+BS*, *CTRL+ALT+F2*# apt-get --purge remove gnome && apt-get --purge autoremove.... *click*.... *click*..... Hello KDE  |

OpenOffice . org . :p A lot of programs start off good, but then the company trys to monetise the product, and it goes to cr@p . I would put Facebook into this category, based on there Beacon failure . . I also think Winamp has gone to cr@p, as has spybot and zonealarm . ALso realplayer, need I say more . I guess Vista is in the same camp, and I have downgraded to XP due to the problems I have had with it not working with my existing software and hardware . |
