790694 2009-07-10 12:21:00 My friend brought an Hp laptop in Juanuary, with a preloaded Norton anti virus....now its to buy a new subscription!
We tried uninstalling the program and installing first Avast and then AVG free editions but after installing and restarting the pc we cant load any web pages..we uninstalled the the freebies..installed Norton and everything works fine again!!...but how do we get the everything working ok without Norton?..any suggestions? :thanks

790695 2009-07-10 12:55:00 You mean you installed/and both active both Avast and AVG together? Their processes could clash and cause problems... kahawai chaser (3545)
790696 2009-07-10 12:58:00 Maybe there are leftovers.

Download Revo Uninstaller and use that to uninstall Norton:
www.revouninstaller.com

Then, install Avast! only.

Never have more than one Antivirus, they will conflict.

If internet still doesn't work then we will troubleshoot from there:)

I've found that even the removal tool leaves a lot of traces and use Revo instead..

Even that misses a few. Nortons has at least 100000 entries in the registry. I once took them out manually. It took a very very long time..........

790702 2009-07-11 03:41:00 I've never been that patient. Whenever Norton significantly breaks something, I always just reinstall windows.

Have had to do that several times

Then I switched to Comodo
