790140 2009-07-09 01:33:00 I'm after a free DVD ripper that will rip my DVD to MPEG2 or WMV.

I would use handbrake only it'll only rip to MPEG4/x264 :(.

Any help is greatly appreciated :).

790142 2009-07-09 03:00:00 DVD Shrink only copies the VOB/IFO files and doesn't actually convert it...

Try this:

790143 2009-07-09 04:05:00 Try Your Free DVD Ripper (www.ourfreeware.com), or Next free DVD ripper (www.en.2lex.com), but it's unclear whether if they directly rips from disc. There are more free DVD/movie format converters (pcsourcepoint.blogspot.com) than direct DVD rippers. Hence maybe use DVD shrink then convert the VOB files with something like internet video converter, Super, etc. kahawai chaser (3545)

790145 2009-07-09 04:43:00 Thats why its Prob Free, Free software "sometimes" comes a few added extras -- Infections/Malware.

Try Xmedia Recode (www.xmedia-recode.de/) - its malware free - never had any problems. it installs in dutch I think, but change the language to English, Options (http:) -- Doubt it will do copy protected DVD's -- as per forum rules its not allowed any how.

790146 2009-07-09 04:45:00 You want a decent programme, yet you don't want to pay anything for it :(

Who do you think subsidises the freebies?

Maybe if you ran a search on Google or even this site, you might get some better answers/options.

Have you tried videohelp.com or do you want it all on a silver platter :(

There are some great programs that are free, so I figured I'd try my luck to see if there was a good free DVD ripper that met my demanding needs .

Did a google search but it comes up with so many options, so I thought I would ask my fellow pf1'ers to see if they had some good advice :).

I'll give that site a look :thanks.

Thanks waiiuitech, I'll keep that in mind for next time :).

Xmedia recode worked well the first time I tried it, only thing was it was in 4:3, not 16:9 as I'd hoped for, but I went back and found I'd forgotten to fix the ratio :stare:.

Secound attempt fixed it though, thanks wainuitech :thanks

Also, thanks to those who gave their advice :thanks
