| 644052 | 2008-02-27 05:36:00 | so what i want to do is record one channel while watching another. okay it sounds like a complete no brainer but when i got my new HX750 today and went to test recording and wanted to change channels to something else while I was recording, i realised that it was recording all my channel changes as well. I believe this is because the SKY connection is coming in on LINE1 and this is the channel that is recording so naturally any time i change the sky channel which is coming in on LINE1 Has the setup been done wrong, or is it not possible to do this? thanks |

| 644054 | 2008-02-27 05:53:00 | bummer! oh well looks like i will be taking this back then. that is a really basic function, i guess it is the issue with sky really rather than the recorder but I am surprised that anyone is very satisfied with their expensive dvd hdd recorder when they cannot perform a simple function. | kiwican123 (13444) | ||

Why try to return it? For a kickoff, you don't have grounds for returning it under the CGA laws. As you say, the problem is with SkyTV only having a single tuner. (Unless you get the "MySky" machine) I have had a Sony HDD recorder for a year now. Most programs on Sky are transmitted 3 or 4 times during each week. I watch live what I want to and then record something at say, 3.30am for later viewing or suchlike. So easy with a little bit of thought. By the way, my Sky is connected to Line 3, not line 1 which is a SCART in/out connector using CVBS. Line 3 can take advantage of Component output from the Sky decoder. Mind you, it may be different to yours but it is worth checking on. (Sony **820 model) Ken ;) |

I can do just that now on mine. Free to air (1,2,3,4, as well as the UHF free Prime, Maori, local channel, and racing. Tricky one. Ken |

| 644059 | 2008-02-27 07:29:00 | You could watch a Sky channel while recording a channel on UHF/VHF or vice versa. Or as stated earlier, pay another $25 a month for a second decoder. |

| 644060 | 2008-02-27 09:38:00 | Or buy a TV with PIP . That wouldn't solve his problem though, the issue is that he has a single Sky decoder box and he wants to watch another Sky program (according to description from initial post anyways) while recording one . PIP will only allow him to watch programs from other sources/from his Tv tuner . Only solutions to this that I know of is MySky, or a 2nd decoder box, as stated above . |

Well he didnt say another SKY channel . He said another channel, which could mean any channel . |
