791119 2009-07-12 11:29:00 My video card makes a strange whistling sound when I run Crysis. Is this normal? Or should I be RMAing? sammo450 (13626)
791120 2009-07-12 11:38:00 Does your look like this: www.overclock3d.net

Or this: media.schottenland.de

It is probably the fact the fan is going at max speed and the air over the heatsink is making the noise.

Agree - esp if its only when loading up.If it goets worse then I'd seriously look at it.

Cant resist this ---- Can you "whistle" a few bars here, so we can all hear it :p

791122 2009-07-12 11:56:00 No neither of them, this one: prohardver.hu It's not the fan, because the whistling stops when the screen goes blank i.e. GPU isn't rendering millions of colours on millions of triangles. This makes me suspicious. Haha no I haven't got the tech for that. Sounds kinda like a very quiet modem speaker. sammo450 (13626)
791123 2009-07-12 13:23:00 Have a read of this (especially the last post), would indicate possibly a lack of sufficient power to the card (have you connected the extra power cable to the back edge of this card?).

791124 2009-07-12 13:46:00 Its coil vibration on the video card. Totally normal but it doesn't do it on all cards. You can RMA but good chance you'll get the same again.

And no it is not damaging to the card :)

791125 2009-07-12 14:00:00 Hmm I'm pretty sure it's not an alarm, as one user on that nVidia forum suggested, and I'm also pretty sure it's not my PSU. Yep I've got the 6-pin plug in the back of it. trinsic's idea sounds pretty feasible. sammo450 (13626)
791126 2009-07-12 20:53:00 Well you have enough power for it with the HX620 And it should defiantly be supplying enough voltage and amps. Tuneznz (13203)

Another reason to stick to the better quality brands.
