791036 2009-07-11 12:58:00 Is a GTX 260 overkill for a 22" monitor with a resolution of 1650x1080?

If not, will it fit a Silverstone TJ04 case?

Thanks for any help.

791037 2009-07-11 13:33:00 I guess it depends on your usage - and if (gaming) you like to have the settings as high as possible.

I've got a Gigabyte 260 OC (core 216) - factory clocked at 630 Mhz. It's wonderful on my Samsung 2232BW - I can highly recommend it. Crysis plays with absolutely no hitches at very high settings + 4xAA (I didn't bother at ultra setting - because this works so well).

I also looked at the GTS 250 - but for the price diff, almost every review I read suggested the GTX 260 was the sweet-spot for this range of monitor. Plus apparently they have more room for clocking further - but as this GPU was factory OC, and performs so well, I simply haven't bothered.

Computer Lounge have the GB 260 OC at the moment for $369 (incl GST). It is really good value.

+1 for GTX 260..

Does any one know if the GTX 260 will fit in a Silverstone TJ04 case?
Thanks.

791041 2009-07-12 02:26:00 For a monitor? Hell yes.
For gaming, well no of course not.

As for size get the dimensions then, look up the dimensions of the case, particularly from the back to the drive bay to see if it will fit.
Or ring the shop and get the dimensions.

791042 2009-07-12 02:27:00 Cant see why it wouldnt fit in the case. Will it fit on the mobo? Here's the info for the case I think (www.silverstonetek.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
791043 2009-07-12 03:24:00 If its a ATX case and you are using ATX parts it will fit, thats the whole point of having a common sizing regulation for hardware. Tuneznz (13203)

Not necessarily...and there's multiple sizes for ATX too!

791045 2009-07-12 03:39:00 That is true, but in general if it is ATX compliant and pretty much all is then you are sweet. Tuneznz (13203)
