| 645060 | 2008-03-01 11:41:00 | And what if one night your neighbour who you borrowed sugar off last week, or your best friend who you went out on the town with was drunk, high, depressed, angry or whatever and decided to attack someone/you? And what if I noticed a flying pig misjudged the landing on my roof and fell down the chimney while I had the fire alight? We would all like to think we would do the right thing like maybe throw a bucket of water over the fire so the said pig did not have any scorched hairs. Probably too late by then I would think. Other people may just turn the fire down a bit so the pork cooks slowly. Others will not eat pork and be very offended by an unprovoked attack on the house by the said aerial ungulate. Having said that I have no idea what I what do given a set of circumstances. When or if I get faced with it I would like to think I would rush into a burning building to save some person but if the roof has collapsed already then once again it is probably too late. I think that given your postings on this you would just stand there and take it with an unprovoked attack. I respect your opinion and your right to express the same. |

Society lives with what they will tolerate. And as far as I'm concerned, Beating a pizza delivery guy until he is dead is murder.... Unfortunately *I* want to keep out of prison and also would not tolerate certain actions against other people if I saw it happen and was in a position to interfere. Society in this day and age has to live with what it is given by law makers. |

But anyway, no one likes making long posts late at night/early morning, let alone reading them, so I'm gonna give a quick pre-lunch opinion which would hopefully sum up what my opinion was/is. Lets put it into a pretty real scenario, none of that flying pig stuff  Walking down the street, someone attacks myself, or girlfriend, or friend, whatever, drunk, high, sober, whatever, I'm not gonna stand there and do nothing. I will probably not beat the guy into a hospital state, unless he did something really serious (ie had a weapon or something) but rather beat him/restrain him so I/we could get away. Even if he had a knife, for example, and TRIED to kill me/one of us, I would still not even think about lowering myself to his standards and trying to kill him. See? I dunno if that's just a repeat of what I've said in the last 5 pages or so, but that's my opinion in one paragraph. |

| 645063 | 2008-03-01 22:54:00 | Well, here's my opinion: Walking down the street, then someone I don't know decides to attack me. Of course I'll defend myself, and if I accidentally kill him (eg. pushing him, and he gets hit by an oncoming bus) I will not feel bad or regret for his death. There. |

She's the one who has my sympathy. We made a deal, last weekend for a drink then its no drinks until she can. And she is at her nans getting well looked after. Just if you were interested. |

Yes, I admit that does make a difference. I'm glad to hear you have an excuse... ... so I'll stop glaring at you from a distance. |

| 645067 | 2008-03-02 20:19:00 | Just read this whole thread through. Best entertainment/interesting read I've had for ages. :D Cheers guys, and Rob and Metla, I completely agree with you. Bash the lousy bastards. |

| 645068 | 2008-03-02 20:30:00 | Classic story Rob - have to say I agree with Watterus . . . . getting in to any physical altercation can be dangerous (SWMBO lost a very dear friend who got into fistycuffs outside a local nightclub, fell, hit his head and died), but you can't back down to morons (just typed mormons then . . . . freudian slip? :D ) like those guys clearly are . Not condoning anyone bashing anyone, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do right? |
