| 643793 | 2008-02-28 03:32:00 | I actually fail to see why macs are 'better for multimedia production' than pcs. Can't you get equivalent software that runs on the PC? ie it is not the hardware that makes a mac good for multimedia production? (they are intel inside anyway...) Read this www.macworld.com |

| 643794 | 2008-02-28 03:52:00 | And we all know thats a PC of crap and BS. If they just work, why did Deanes Touch have issues (stupid iTunes) and why are there Mac repair people out there if you guys never have any problems? It works... Just Just buy a new one, that would be easier wouldn't it? Umm, my iPod Touch didn't have issues - in fact I'm writing this reply on it. What I had issues with was the iTunes Store that I was accessing using iTunes 7 which was installed on my PC. Not that I don't agree though - my mother and her late husband always used Macs and I have been witness to their numerous problems with them over the years. They have had several hardware failures and I have known the things to freeze while I have used them. Macs are the default in image and multimedia industries because as far as I'm aware the colour management on Macs is excellent. |

It was probably more of an issue with OS9 than with OS X. Classic didn't have protected memory, OS X does. Worst one to encounter is a corrupted file when your in a hurry. You are correct about the colour management standard. |

| 643796 | 2008-02-28 05:23:00 | If it broke you would get it replaced under warranty like any normal bit of electronics gear. I use mine as a duke box/sound system all the time though the stereo with no problems. Right, Best case scenario its under warranty and you lose it for a month, If its not under warranty then its time to bin it. I could live with the first (actually I wouldn't) but the second is the dealbreaker. Incidentally, The exact same issue comes into play with the screen, which was discussed earlier, Any fault with the screen and you lose the entire computer until its fixed, And if its out of warranty, and Apple have the crappiest warranty in the world, Then its time to bin it. Classy. And I'm glad you told me your Mac can play music, Fantastic stuff. |

Funny, I don't recall asking if your computer could play music, and have no idea why your claiming to be stupid enough to blow up speakers. Weird. Anyhow, all crap aside, I'm pretty indifferent to the different OS's, Its as retarded as Ford Vs Holden, People prefer what suits them best, What annoys me is the claims about what makes an Apple better are just crack-head rubbish. |

| 643800 | 2008-02-28 06:05:00 | In case you hadn't noticed, this is a PC forum... it's not called MacF1. PC stands for personal computer, macs are more personal than windows computers!! so we should be talking about mac not windows! :P there has been a lot of comment on this which is great! the fact that macs are more $$$ really comes down to you pay for what you get! although they may be more they are defiantly better! macs can use ram better than windows i have heard alot of ppl say that windows (xp) cannot really use much more than 3gig where as mac can use as much as you stick in it :) installing programs, this is sooooo completely easy its just stupid, you just get a dmg disk img and mount it (by clicking on it) and then you run it there or copy it into ur app folder! um... no virus scanner anyone, to slow down ur computer on start up! when buying a windows os you have to choose between 5+ different packages and the low end ones like home dont do anything, and high end ones are way to $$, but when buying mac os there is only ONE copys, Mac os 10.5 just watch the leopard video on apple.com Yeah that is one thing I never got - why do Mac people think that the ability to put Windows on a Mac says anything good about the Mac? Nobody wants to put Mac OS on a PC.... yes they do, and alot of ppl do!!! and mac os on a pc is great, |

How do you figure that? Because you own a MAC? So it's more personal to you than a PC that you don't own? well... sure... I guess. OS X is a 64 bit OS natively. Vista and XP both have 64bit flavours. But 3gig is plenty RAM for me... I dont know what you're doing to use more. Crysis, whilst power using photoshop and video editing? Except your GFX card isn't good enough to use crysis in the first place, because it uses RAM less well than a discrete PC card, Probably. If I were to get a laptop, I'd get a MAC. Otherwise PC ftw. Or you could spend $4699 and get a base model Mac Pro... If you're actually insane. And has anyone here actually looked at MAC RAM prices? OMG!!! Extortion anyone? |
