It also came in under $700,000, as per this article. Using Kauri is however not very green, as it is a unsustainable timber.

Yes you can, but can you wait the hundreds of years it takes for it to grow to a usuable size. The Kauri that is used in building an furniture is hundreds of years old. Sustainable timber has to be fast growing and be able to replace itself, hence the word sustainable.
