643396 2008-02-25 23:57:00 what do you guys think?

I think they've gone backwards, it's absolutely hideous....

To me it looks a bit like a court room, with all the timber. I does look quite similar to the old set they used in the 90's, so it is a step backwards. Maybe they should have copied the BBC world news set which is very cool and modern. Even the TV3 news set is now better.

Apparently it was done inhouse (which shows due to how amaterish it looks)
It also came in under $700,000, as per this article. Using Kauri is however not very green, as it is a unsustainable timber.

643399 2008-02-26 02:17:00 But they did give Jim, the weatherman, a desk of his own! Surely that's an advantage for him at least?:waughh:

What I fail to understand - and this started before they brought in the beer crates - why does the weather person need to have three goes at it? I always thought once was enough . Now it's at the beginning (did he say something interesting? - must have missed it) halfway through and then the real stuff at the end . Why?

And why does that silly woman with the gushing voice over have to say, after the ads, " . . . . and now One News continues . " I know that some of the news can be boring but I do think that we are wide awake enough to realise that, aren't we?

I am very thankful for modern technology which gives me the option to record the news and the ability to skip over the crap .

643402 2008-02-26 06:29:00 I haven't watched TV1 News since I found out that Bailey cow was getting paid $800 K to read stuff off a telecue. TV3 for me for News and Toni for the weather!! But I switch back to 1 for Whiskers at 7 pm when I can be bothered. TideMan (4279)
