643518 2008-02-25 20:28:00 The Divx stage6 website (www.stage6.com) is closing down this Friday.
So if you want to download your old tv programs (Hogan's Heroes here I come), better do it before then.

643521 2008-02-25 22:28:00 There's a one page statement on the website.
They have stopped uploads too (you can still see the clips though from the buttons on the top).

643522 2008-02-26 03:11:00 Stage6 to Shut Down on February 28

I’m Tom (aka Spinner), a Stage6 user and an employee of DivX, Inc., the company behind the service. I’m writing this message today to inform you that we plan to shut down Stage6 on February 28, 2008. Upload functionality has already been turned off, and you’ll be able to view and download videos until Thursday.

643523 2008-02-26 06:50:00 Yeah, saw that on a post at TechCrunch (www.techcrunch.com) earlier today.

Ah well, was good while it lasted. Fair enough I suppose, sites like Joox (joox.net/) and Quicksilver Screens (http:) were syndicating (basically leeching) their content and probably pulling in a fair bit of ad revenue.
