| 645525 | 2008-03-02 06:12:00 | My mum is keen to get Maxwell Smart and I have been comparing prices. On the one hand we have Amazon selling the complete First season at NZ$68.22 and on the other hand we have TimeLife advertising on New Zealand TV to sell four episodes at a time on drip feed . Just checked on their website www.timelife.co.nz We can buy a similar First season for only NZ$179.95. Something seriously wrong here. TimeLife is 2.6 times the price of Amazon. Are my deductions and/or calculations wrong ?? The TimeLife set is in a "Collector's Box". It must be a very fancy box !!!! :horrified  Misty :illogical |

| 645527 | 2008-03-02 07:07:00 | Even if it was USD, it still works out roughly $100 more expensive at TimeLife. (excluding shipping) | --Wolf-- (128) | ||

Hi lakewoodlady Definitely --- did the conversion using the calculator at NZ City website. The US cost is $US55.61 www.amazon.com (it's a very good exchange rate at the present time for us in NZ -- if you have been following the Business news ! - the Kiwi dollar is at a 23 year high against the greenback !) :D Misty :) |

By the time you buy all the magazines, which might take a year, you could have gone out and bought the thing you are building for less than half the price and have had it straight away. |

| 645531 | 2008-03-02 08:29:00 | I am slowly going to get books from Amazon. I use the library but when I want a book to own, its cheaper abroad, delivery is $5US each I think. A good book that sells for $30 or $40US sells here for $100 or $120. Sometimes the Borders coupon when you register online helps but sometimes not. A lot of times, even if you ask them to order it in for Borders, they are more expensive or that they say are out of print. I have ordered books before in NZ and the person said to me it would take 4 to 6 weeks and they tell me they are imported from the USA or some I inquired are from Oz. The only reason I did it cos I have a book voucher left over from someone. Sometimes the books that is on the shelf here is the last edition, but they are still selling for the full $100. With my photog, which can be $$ here or lack of demand so they don't import them, I get those stuff and how sad it may be, the last time I imported photo paper cos they were half price vs here by taking adv of the shipping fee. Delivery is tracked, few hours after ordering I get a confirmation back with the number and it arrives into Auckland for customs clearance usually like 3 working days or 4 working days into Welly. I also buy my film overseas cos supermarket film is like 5 kiwi bucks, they are only $2US, pro film even more a rip off, photo film is like $4US vs $12NZ, slide film $5US vs $20 or $25NZ depending where you buy. |

Eventually - maybe by now - the series will be on general release and you'll get it from Whicoulls or wherever much cheaper. | Winston001 (3612) | ||
