| 645901 | 2008-03-08 23:28:00 | just drove the old man's ute omg he must've kerbed it badly as you physically have to steer the car right to go in a straight line apparently it's been like that for years atleast it's veering to the left i suppose..... granted since he got a bike he hardly drives it, but that's no excuse for piss-poor alignment and balding tyresIf it's that bad then he may have damaged some steering components too- get it checked! I mean, how would you feel if he had an accident in it? |

I'd not like to be in front of a car with bald front tyres, regardless of who is driving because not even the Pope can make them grip once aquaplaning starts, and lifting off to restore directional control (which hasn't been lost in a straight line anyway) just increses the speed at which you shunt the car in front. Tons of irrelevant theory spouted, but zero practical experience. Good front tyres will let you recover from nigh-on terminal understeer, just so long as you know which way to turn the wheel (pointless if the fronts are bald). Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Agree totally, but you are the only one bringing bald fronts into the equation. Now concentrate on terminal oversteer which is more dangerous and ways to prevent it. |

Cheers Billy 8-{) Irrespective of further argument,I had just advised someone to put their two new tyres on the front, and I would say it again after listening to the above arguments. |
