646350 2008-03-06 17:47:00 I am amazed by the number of people I meet who say they will be voting National, these are people at the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum and the deluded fools somehow think that the National Party will be better for them than Labour, just how stupid and ignorant can people be. Reminds me of when I was working in a semi-sweat shop factory and the shop floor workers voted against having a Union. I walked out the next day, lost $600 in pay for not giving notice.

.

True true, I know some extremely rich people who want a National government as they would pay less tax while we the ordinary bloke in the street would be penalised. national Does not get my vote

646351 2008-03-06 18:46:00 left or right?

i get sick of the same old false dictomy about left or right, democrat or republican, labour or national, holden or ford

there are other options, and politics is not a two way (or one-dimensional) system.

I agree entirely - the old distinctions don't really apply - and especially with regard to National and Labour. Both parties are centrist if they are anything.

646352 2008-03-06 18:49:00 Yes I was right, the money from the Superannuation Scheme has been invested on overseas Stock Exchanges and a great deal of money has been lost.

There should be rioting in the streets over this and heads should roll.

These 'American neo-con arse kissing brown nose' Politicians have lost the future monies of a lot of older people in NZ.

They should be prosecuted.

Investments dip in an economic downturn, have for around 350 years .
No rioting or head rolling is required, just wait till the up cycle in a few qaurters . People have short memories when the market is going up .
If you had hung onto some of your shares from 1929 crash you would be a rich bugger now .

646355 2008-03-07 02:29:00 My point is that the money should be in a Bank account earning interest not being gambled on the Stock Exchange. zqwerty (97)
646356 2008-03-07 03:44:00 Preferably not some old white guy. They've had too many and need a change Agent_24 (57)

Interest from bank complete waste of time wont even keep pace with inflation.
Super schemes need proper investments to succeed.

646358 2008-03-07 05:56:00 Inflation is caused by speculative investing and money lending in general. zqwerty (97)

The problem with the current setup, is unless National get a clear majority, then Labour can get back in on the back of the greens and maori party . Therefore it is actually very difficult to get rid of them, and this isn't help by the new election advertising laws .

Labour is however behaving like a desperate party . Especially with them now wanting to buy back the railways, and their law change affecting AIA, which is effectively destroying peoples private property rights . However they did the same thing to telecom .

The current National party is actually regarded by politcal commentators as a new labour party as some of their ideas are more left than central .
