646671 2008-03-05 21:06:00 Does this mean that the better content and sport will be on Payview and only the current reality crap and the like will be on Freeview??

646672 2008-03-05 21:32:00 Probably yeah. :yuck:

It would be nice to get some decent free TV , but I can't see it happening.

646673 2008-03-06 05:08:00 The Independent Financial Review has been told TVNZ is looking at Freeview Plus...

don't really see how it can still be called "freeview" when you have to pay for it...

I guess it's freeview + give us ur $$!

646674 2008-03-06 06:46:00 He said the Freeview technology offered many choices and TVNZ was analysing options that could benefit TVNZ's owner, the New Zealand government.
I thought that WE (the taxpayers) owned TVNZ, if they start charging for content, we would be paying twice for the privilege of watching their dross, I think that stinks! Dont they make enough out of the advertising?

It's believed TVNZ and other Freeview partners are looking for ways to quicken the uptake of Freeview set-top boxes and developing business models to provide a return on their investment.
And how do they think, probably having to pay for content, is ever going to encourage people to buy set top boxes, has me flabbergasted (fairly twisted marketing-babble if you ask me!).
We should all rise up in protest, and demand that free-to-air tv stays that way, or we'll turn off our tv's en-masse and not watch their crap anymore!
POWER TO THE PEOPLE

You don't have to pay to view it do you ? That is why it is called
freeVIEW. Did you or someone else pay for your TV to watch the free channels in NZ ? So I don't see your point.

Of course Freeview will have many free channels to choose from. Nothing wrong with TVNZ offering say a pay per view movie channel. So you either
have it free with adverts through the movie every 15 minutes or you pay
to watch it without the ads. It's your choice.
Here in the UK with freeview you can pay for added services mainly
strange sports and porn.

646677 2008-03-06 20:22:00 I was just saying how it is rather ironic calling the pay-per-view service freeVIEW Plus..yea..not really important :p heni72847 (1166)
646678 2008-03-08 07:36:00 Just get a big satalite dish/old sky dish and watch other countries tv!!! memphis (2869)
646679 2008-03-08 08:48:00 The VIEW is free, it's the sound that costs. R2x1 (4628)
646680 2008-03-08 10:46:00 With everyone watching reality on TV,I think il switch off the TV off and live in reality. Maybe use the internet to get something that actually has some value.

You have to have ads to keep the consumption up,so that capitalism(in a mature efficient state of overproduction) can continue you see.

The one size fits all broadcast model isnt working quite so well anymore
