648949 2008-03-12 23:50:00 alright, i'm looknig at upgrading some parts - motherboard, CPU, ram, monitor. Have been reading the project beast for soem ideas for the best parts, since the cpu is $1600 i was goin to go with the Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 for a cheaper option.
It would be great to get any feedback on these parts or any better options

648950 2008-03-13 00:17:00 That CPU is fine.
Match it with a nice ASUS or Gigabyte board, some corsair RAM and an 8800Ultra.

648951 2008-03-13 02:47:00 Make sure you ask for the G0 stepping Q6600. qazwsxokmijn (102)

8800 ultra = lots more $'s and not much gain (according to PC User Oz (sorry pc world))

648953 2008-03-13 10:21:00 nice , thanks for the feedback, was looking at the Gigabyte GA - x38 - DQ6 motherboard and also the G-Skill DDr2 - 1000 for the ram. the 8800 might be a little bit on the expensive side, are there any good steps down from that. Thanks Ollie123 (4243)
