648943 2008-03-12 23:33:00 Hi guys,

I'm shopping around for a new laptop for work. We're going use it to train staff members using a CD-based training system, so I'm wanting something with a 17" screen.

My only other proviso is that it comes with XP (Pro preferably, but Home would do). 802.11 A/B/G/N and a suitable GPU will be standard I'm sure.

What makes/models do you guys like? I'm looking to spend around $2000 excl.

648944 2008-03-12 23:45:00 There is a Toshiba (www.c1com.co.nz) that comes with Vista Business.
If you can get the drivers for XP then you are legally allowed to install XP Pro from any licensed copy you may have.

The other option is an HP 8710p as they have a model that comes with XP Pro but they are $3000!

648946 2008-03-13 01:00:00 You'll be lucky to get Wireless-N on a notebook.

What else have you got thats Wireless-N, so you can use it?

Sorry Speedy - N-standard isn't a proviso at all; our WLAN is all A/B/G - my bad
