Yes, but you still use telecom network, but with Orcon unbundled plan, means that you use Orcon’s own network, so bye bye telecom network… Plus Orcon is the first ISP in NZ to offer ADSL2 (turn on that is) |

Plus Orcon is the first ISP in NZ to offer ADSL2 (turn on that is) Yes but you don't have to pay telecom for your landline anymore and that's what I understand 'unbundled' means. So still bye bye telecom to the end user. |

They say it is 24Mb but this speed must depend on how far from the exchange the user is. Also it is still using telecoms network, it is just the exchange equipment that is owned and operated by Orcon. All the lines to and from the exchnge are still telecoms. When telecom roll out their roadside cabinets, it will mean real adsl2 speeds. I was looking at orcons pricing plans and they seem to have changed them again today, and they don't look very attractive anymore. |

our shiny new, Next Generation ADSL2+ network that we have been trialling for the past few months is now open for people in five Auckland suburbs to sign up for as of today. Great! Let's all crowd into one of the 5 Auckland suburbs then. |

There's no where near enough investment going on, and even when Telecom cabinetisation is complete (few people will get good adsl2+ speeds without it), the price will still be high. Orcon's announcement = cute. At least Bartlett isn't some dried up crust. |
