| 793036 | 2009-07-19 20:27:00 | Can a system support SATA & IDE both at the same time? I have three IDE HDDs plus a DVD at present. Obviously I cannot increase the disks short of getting a larger IDE and replacing a perfectly good smaller HDD. I could go external but if I've got provision for SATA why not use it? |

| 793040 | 2009-07-20 05:54:00 | Whatever connectors your motherboard has, you can usually use all of them at once - this applies for just about any kind of connector. There are some exceptions, for example: 1) some boards the IrDA and COM2 ports cannot be used at the same time 2) some boards there is a PCI/ISA or PCI/CNR/AMR slots sharing the same mounting space on the case, so only one slot can physically be used at once 3) some boards with eSATA use the same connection that some internal headers are connected to, so the eSATA connector can only be used when the corresponding SATA connector is free 4) some integrated video cards may have VGA and DVI connectors but only one can be used at once |
