792906 2009-07-19 06:05:00 Hi

I have an Acer Laptop (five years old) and the Monitor is now not working properly. It is very dark and hard to read anything - any ideas?

792907 2009-07-19 06:07:00 Simple solution - check the contrast settings, if it has any. Otherwise the backlight may have blown. pcuser42 (130)
792908 2009-07-19 06:23:00 A blown backlight sounds like a major cost to repair - I am not capable of doing it myself - what do you think - laptop is now just junk (it is nearly 5 years old) Bodes (8475)
792909 2009-07-19 06:39:00 Strip it for parts. Or Look on trademe for a possible cheap replacement. Blam (54)
792910 2009-07-19 07:34:00 Got a customers NEC laptop here - same thing with the screen - Plug in a standard monitor, and it should work. ( this is so you can see to transfer data off to a removable drive) You may have to press a few buttons to get it to change over, some auto change, some dont.

My own Acer that is about the same age 5 years old wont auto change.
