792865 2009-07-19 04:10:00 :help: I've got a PSU on its way out that needs to be replaced. I need a Bestec ATX-1956A, for installation in a Compaq Presario 6000 6202AN. Does anyone have one lurking around? (There was one advertised on TradeMe with a start price and no reserve. It was passed in just last Sunday with no bids - I didn't see it until too late - and the advertiser hasn't responded to TradeMe's follow up on my behalf.) So is there anyone else with something lurking around that'll do the trick? WalOne (4202)
792866 2009-07-19 04:32:00 Can it not just take a standard ATX PSU? stormdragon (6013)

I really don't know, my technical abilities are limited to plug n play, which is I'm trying to locate an exact replacement. This is all new to me.

792868 2009-07-19 06:10:00 Can you get us a photo of the PSU? That way we'll know whether it's ATX or not. pcuser42 (130)
792869 2009-07-19 06:14:00 You dont want to buy a genuine HP part - it will cost you an arm and a leg.

Just had a look at a customers Compaq 3060AN I have in the workshop, that has a Bestec 250 PSU installed. (std size psu)

Remove the side of the case - measure from the front to back of the PSU - if its around 142mm ( give or take a mill) - then thats a standard PSU.

Sorry, it's difficult to get a half way decent photo as the unit is still installed in the PC, but the label on the PSU quite clearly identifies it as a Bestec ATX 1956A I can try for a photo tomorrow, but there is a photo in a TradeMe advert of an identical unit. You can see that photo as TradeMe listing #22814778 (the label is even the same). Thanks for your interest in helping. :thanks

792871 2009-07-19 07:27:00 Wainuitech, "You don't want to buy a genuine HP part - it will cost you an arm and a leg" - my sentiments exactly as a pension doesn't go very far... I'll get the measurements in the morning. Thanks. WalOne (4202)
792872 2009-07-19 07:28:00 Think you may have the wrong ID number Listing #: 22814778 - thats for a "Jean Jones Crinkle Top - free size - bright green" wainuitech (129)

Sorry, it should be, 228414778. You don't think a Jean Jones Crinkle Top would work then?

792874 2009-07-19 08:22:00 Jean Jones Crinkle Top

Maybe the Static Electricity ;)

Just looked at the Auction - going by the photo provided thats not a std PSU size, but check in your PC as to weather it will fit or not. A standard PSU is more Square when looking from the top.

BTW - hate to say it but it says that auction closed on the 12th - last sunday.

For anyone else looking heres the Auction (www.trademe.co.nz)
