2008-03-14 00:38:00 | Bit of a shame I am like 30m away from the Telstra cable (!). If it was good speeds, I would of liked their full speed 10Gb package or something without the need of a phone.

2008-03-14 02:19:00 | That's a nice change from the TelstraClear shrills from Welington / Christchurch lording it over everone else in the country that they have 10Mbit download speed while you peasents who live in Auckland anly get 3Mbits.. I get over 6 MBits with XNet, and I don't need it any faster. I could also get Testra Cable, but it is very expensive, and they essentially have a monopoly over that. The only thing I would like is faster upload speeds. ADSL 2+ can potentially go faster than telstras cable anyway. Vodafone are promising 50MBit download and 10MBit upload on their unbundled server soon blogs.pcworld.co.nz

2008-03-14 03:07:00 | I wished I could get access to Telstra. My Xnet under Telecom lines only gets me 1.8Mbit which I downgraded to 256k. | Nomad (952) | |
2008-03-14 03:09:00 | Exactly, nobody here in NZ (99% of people) need faster than the current 8mbps offerings.. even if EVERYBODY in NZ was getting a solid 2mbps that'd be nice, but no... Faster speeds = the smaller cap is eaten up faster :( Now, lies that the SCC is at capacity: www.southerncrosscables.com Southern Cross is currently delivering 240 gigabit/s of fully protected bandwidth and has the potential to increase to 2.4 Tbps, as demand growth requires. ... Each cable is currently equipped at 240 Gbps and the upgrade will increase each cable’s capacity in two stages, to 330 Gbps by the first quarter of 2008 and to 430Gbps by the fourth quarter of 2008. Our total capacity will be 860Gbps by fourth quarter of 2008. Last time I saw a "map" of the usage vs availability of bandwidth was around 6 months ago, and I believe we were around 35-40%, so plenty of room there! Needa find where I saw that though...

2008-03-14 03:13:00 | Well .. not being in Auckland my 1yr old router modem can be with me longer then. Hehe ... :p Hey, let's say you don't have fast standard ADSL - if you are provided with ADSL2 in your area does that automatically increase your standard ADSL speed? Cos if I can get 4Mbit and its cheaper with standard ADSL .. why the heck upgrade :D

2008-03-14 03:34:00 | 24 mbps is slow compared to a lot of places in the world. Beyond Tomorrow TV show showed Korea having 100mbps on one show I watched and that was a couple of years ago, I hate to think what speeds they have by now. They rated Korea as being the most hi-tech country. | Bantu (52) | |
2008-03-14 06:43:00 | Well I'm on ihugs broadband 3 plan which is i think FS/128. I was upgraded recently from what was I think 2mb/128kbps. It was slow before and its slow now. In fact i didn't think I'd been changed over. So if I was to get ADSL2+ would I still be slow or fast for what I'm on now but but slow for what it potentially could be. Err... yeh I think thats right. Like 2-3 mbs would be great compared to what I have now! As of right now to LA on speedtest.net 688ms Ping 884kb/s download 40kb/s upload Auckland - Auckland <--- Yes Auckland! 391ms Ping 1015kb/s download 50kb/s upload
