| 647456 | 2008-03-09 02:38:00 | There is the issue, Pretty much no one takes up rugby as a teenager. Hell, on my very first day at school (aged 5) the coach came in just to see if I was a prospect for the team, He wasted no time, No questions, Just told me to come to practise that day as soon as the final bell rung. If I was talked to about it as a teenager I would have been to busy drinking beer....:clap As for generalisations of generations, Its pathetic, every generation looks down their noses at those coming after them, and every new generation gives the finger back. Cant agree with that mate, as generation X, i was taught to respect my elders and still do, generation y doesnt and thats the generation which you just so riches described as giving the finger back. |

They probaly said back then, the younger generation of today tired buggers dont want to go out and make civilizations and kill people like we did in our day. |

Do you have close contact with large amount of teenagers from right across the demograph in order to make your conclusions? Or is it (as it looks) just a generic knee-jerk from an older generation. |

One is a useless little prat who sits on his bum playing WOW and waiting on mummy to do everything for him including his homework. The other is hardly ever home, when not at school he works on a farm, plays sport, goes to various events with friends and family and his the most practical and helpful 15 yr old I have met. Same generation...................... |

You have to realize, there is something called a MINORITY, which is the people in that story. Then there is a MAJORITY who are hard-working, honest and want to do something really positive in life and help others. Now if you just want to focus on the minority, thats fine but then your definitely going to get a skewed picture. |

Schools, or those who dictate to them, seem to have encouraged a climate of mediocrity, aided by those who would reduce everyone to the lowest common denominator . Any achievements must be played down for fear of upsetting others who didn't work or do so well . Even constructive criticism is frowned on . Blame is so often the name of the game . Acknowledge and praise excellence and improvement in any field . Also, give encouragement to those who do need a helping hand . Parents are not not always to blame . Sooner or later everyone is responsible for their own decisions . Cheers, Marnie |
