793377 2009-07-22 07:40:00 Both are awesome and are the top mobo manufacturers.. Blam (54)
793378 2009-07-22 08:13:00 What Micro ATX Asus motherboards (Atom?) do you like the most? Chilling_Silence (9)
793379 2009-07-22 11:59:00 Marry a cheap mobo with an E5300 and you can get a real bargain. The E5300 (2.6GHz) has a very high multiplier (13) so can be ramped up markedly while still keeping the FSB low.

I have been testing an E5300 with stock cooler on a P5QL-EM and can run it at 3GHz using the integrated graphics and at least 3.5GHz with a cheap X600 graphics card (the integrated video keeps resetting at over 3GHz).

The P5QL-EM isn't that cheap, however, so finding a cheaper mobo would provide great bang for buck.

793380 2009-07-22 12:01:00 Why the E5300?

E5200 Overclocks just as well but is a bit cheaper with on a 0.1Mhz difference.

793381 2009-07-22 21:56:00 I ordered that but Computer Lounge rang to say it was now off the list. So, E5300 was the next option. $15 more!

Presumably, other suppliers can still get you a 5200.

793382 2009-07-23 02:25:00 I got my E5200 for $100.

Its the same price as some of the AMD quads, but heck, once you clock this baby to 3ghz+ it pwns all the AMD low/mid range ones:p

793383 2009-07-23 09:46:00 Only 3 . . . ???? I had another go at mine last night but quickly saw the limitation of my mobo . I can't get above 3 . 5 because the RAM freq can't be decoupled from the fsb . My 800MHz RAM is running at 900 and coping OK but that must be the limit . Maybe need 1066 RAM??!!

What mobo are you using blam?

Looking at Pricespy, something funny with pricing of E5200 there . Several retailers upped the price over $50 on Jul 9th . Can't be an exchange rate thing .

793384 2009-07-23 09:57:00 A P5QL series one I *think*

I said 3ghz+ showing that even at 3ghz its pwns the AMD models, not that mine is clocked to 3:p

Mines 3.8ghz, but I'm using an ACF7Pro.

CPU prices have been going up an down these few weeks, no idea why..
