2009-07-19 08:30:00 | BTW - hate to say it but it says that auction closed on the 12th - last sunday. I didn't see the listing until yesterday. The TradeMe automated request system has sent a message to the trader asking that they consider either re-listing or selling, but no response yet ...

2009-07-19 09:02:00 | Wainuitech - here's the measurements 85mm high x 100mm long (i.e. back to front) x 150mm wide (i.e. is the width of the tower. The 150mm is the side where the label you can see in the TradeMe photo is fixed. Lawrence - Thanks. Maybe some computer expert can voice an opinion? But let me see where we go with my initial avenue of pursuit and I'll get back to you. :thanks

2009-07-19 13:13:00 | I would say a standard ATX supply would fit, the one Ive got here is 85mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 150mm (Deep, (Frt to Bk)) so is square if looking from the top, the fan is at the end that screws to the case (the back), the vent and wiring is on the front face, so as long as the extra length doesnt interfere with anything else (motherboard, optical drive (cd)), you're laughing. I'd buy something of reasonable quality and wattage if I were you, something like this www.thermaltake.com.au From here www.ascent.co.nz or here www.pricespy.co.nz

2009-07-19 19:20:00 | Pull it out, take it with you to your local "cheap" computer parts dealer and ask for a replacement. One thing I don't understand is how do you know its on its way out?

2009-07-20 07:25:00 | Pull it out, take it with you to your local "cheap" computer parts dealer and ask for a replacement. One thing I don't understand is how do you know its on its way out? I'm taking at face value opinions from members on this and other forums, plus this "cure" evidently worked for someone else experiencing the same problem. But I still don't know for sure.

2009-07-21 13:22:00 | What with? This? I'm taking at face value opinions from members on this and other forums, plus this "cure" evidently worked for someone else experiencing the same problem. But I still don't know for sure. More details/symptoms needed. You wont find a direct replacement PSU, as this unit would be long obsolete (and probably particular to your model of Compaq), and apparently nobody here has one.
