1441082 2017-10-25 02:12:00 I see the Rift is down to $449 USD for a bundle with the new controllers. Makes me tempted to buy one but it seems you have to buy direct and have it shipped here.
I was interested to know if anyone has used one and what they think of it and also if anyone has bought one recently who can tell me how much import duty and/or GST they got stung with.

$449 USD works out ~ $651 NZD and I'm not entirely sure if they are charging GST or not as some search results seem to indicate local tax is included and others say the opposite.
In any case I think the worst case should be $800-$$900 landed here which is still $300 cheaper than the HTC Vive.

I have a Samsung GearVR and I quite like it which is what makes me want to step up to the next level.

Thoughts anyone?

1441083 2017-10-25 03:52:00 Friends son bought one. A while ago now, cost him a fortune.
he loves it.

Son is getting keen on the idea now too, not so keen on the costs....but then he could wait until he gets his bonus and buy it without incurring debt.

1441084 2017-10-26 01:55:00 I went ahead and ordered one, if it doesn't take too long to receive I'll update the thread with total costs.
So far it's $449 USD including shipping

1441085 2017-11-07 21:33:00 Cost me $667 with the conversion rates, sailed straight through customs with no additional charges. I'm not sure if that's just luck or what but I'm pretty happy with it.
Ordered on the 31st after the first order failed for some reason, arrived on the 7th

So far it's pretty cool but I'm struggling to figure out what to do with it, the included free games have not really impressed me so far. Google Earth in VR is pretty trippy if a bit difficult to control.
