1441023 2017-10-24 08:48:00 Ok ages ago we bought a canon printer, it has wifi, - do not even rememeber if it came with cables.....
we have fibre internet and it previously worked fine.
We have just changed our fibre plan and installed a new modem......
PC can see puter, but we cannot print anything.........

is it likely we have to reset a password somewhere ? or reinstall or maybe its just something else entirely ?

Canon MG3600 is the model. power is ok, wifi light is fine and it prints out blank paper in copy mode - nothing to copy but I presuming that means its still ok,
Error just says not connected.

suggestions please....... very hard to print stuff ..may have to resort to finding a cable....

I dont know what to look for. maybe I should uninstall and reinstall ? that would mean finding the cd... :o

thanks
beetle :)

1441024 2017-10-24 10:03:00 Get updated drivers for it, from the Canon site. If you want to print / scan wirelessly (if it includes a scanner as well), since you changed modems, you'll have to re-enter the password to the wireless on it to reconnect to the modem.

If the printer has a screen, you should be able to go into its settings / LAN settings and type in the current wifi password (for the modem, if you want to print wirelessly)

If the printer is similar to mine (the MX436) the printer drivers should give you an option to connect to the printer wirelessly

BUT, you have to type in the current modem wifi password (in the printer's settings first). So it connects to the modem's wireless

Once you get the printer drivers run it first then turn the printer on when it tells you to.

you need to connect printer to the new modems new wifi (as above)
new password, new wifi SSID (wifi name)
go into the printers menu & run the wifi setup from there . Easy Peasy

updating drivers any way.hopefully... process currently happening...

I had thought what you said was the problem, but could not just find the update password, security thingy to update.

1441027 2017-10-24 23:18:00 Updating drivers alone usually wont do any good. As 1101 Posted you need to reconnect the Printer to the new router.

Sometimes the easiest thing to do is start again. Go to the Canon Site, download the latest drivers. Re run them ( you may have to uninstall the originals first), if you're lucky it will detect the Wireless (router) you enter the password ( what ever it is, the default is normally printed on the underside of the router) or what ever you have change it to. Then away you go.

Canon Drivers support-asia.canon-asia.com

Sometimes if it wont detect or connect to wireless you then use the option to connect Via a USB cable - it then sets up the wireless, once done you can disconnect the cable.

As 1101 Posted- "Easy Peasy" ;)

Its only difficult when a person only has half the info or equipment Eg. No USB cable (if required) or no idea what the password is.

1441028 2017-10-24 23:23:00 It does not detect the printer. and cannot install because it does not detect........ so now I have to hunt for a cable..... :o

1441029 2017-10-24 23:44:00 Change the SSID and password on the new modem to match those of the previous modem and the printer should be happy. decibel (11645)

1441031 2017-10-25 00:01:00 Change the SSID and password on the new modem to match those of the previous modem and the printer should be happy.

but it doesnt see the printer...... so wont that be a moot point... if it cant see it, how will i change something ?

easy step instructions they said...... :( ive forgotten more than I remember on how we did this to set it up.
If i could find the setting to change current pass word, to change or fix old I would not have this problem ? but im like running in circles cos I just dont remember.

Thank you all for your help.

1441032 2017-10-25 01:03:00 You need to either input the new SSID and password to the printer, OR change the new modems SSID and password to match the old modems.
No cable needed.
